Zip2 Corporation: One of Elon Musk’s early ventures was Zip2 Corporation, a software company he co-founded in 1996 with his brother Kimbal Musk. Zip2 provided business directories and maps for newspapers. While Zip2 initially saw success, it faced financial difficulties during the dot-com crash of the early 2000s and was eventually sold to Compaq for nearly $300 million. Musk reportedly received around $22 million from the sale.
X.com and PayPal: In 1999, Musk co-founded X.com, an online payment company that later became PayPal. While PayPal ultimately became a successful online payment platform, X.com initially faced challenges and competition in the crowded online payment market.
